Description
NIGHT OF THE LIVING BASSOpel's Halloween party, now in it's 12th (!) year - is recognized as one of the top parties in the city every year. It's not the biggest of the night, and they take pride in that, because this party at Mighty, while still plenty popping and big, goes for quality over quantity. The friendly diverse costumed crowd, a cross section of Burners and clubbers, give the vibe on this show a leg up. They decided to pull off a double-headliner this time with the UK’s House Heathen Funkagenda and Toronto’s Tech House Terror Sydney Blu. If those two weren’t enough for you, Opel is aiming to please with 3 areas of music including an expanded outdoor patio with Silent Disco hosted on the El Drago Rojo art car.
Leading up the lineup for this ear pleasing spookfest are Opel founder Syd Gris and Opel’s Kimba, with Sychosis (Punks), Andy P (EPIC / Torq), Opulent Temple’s Billy Seal, Drew Drop, ELiKi and Brother Hill, DJ Hil (Yerba Buena Disco), Freddie Fiers (Fluxus), Non Sequitur (Go Deep, Madmen) and rounding it off with a little DnB Innerground & Stamina’s Flaco.
Keeping true to Halloween fashion will be visuals by Fulmelt, Altar by Gina Decore’ and some spooked out Halloween art installation from Kitty Mak.

Funkagenda Bio:
From the early roots of his West Midland studio, to pioneering releases through reputed major labels, Funkagenda’s stamp on dance music can be felt across the world. A devoted passion for music alongside an embrace of technology, has fortified Funkagenda as a vanguard of the ‘tough but melodic big room house sound’ (DJ Mag)
Adam Walder aka Funkagenda has risen from some of house music’s most iconic labels, including Positiva, Subliminal, Defected, Azuli and Big Love. Additionally to being a key member of Toolroom Records and owner of his own Funk Farm label, 2013 has seen Funkagenda release the two-track Samsara EP on Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak label, thereby becoming a member of the world renowned Dim Mak family and headlining Dim Mak events in the US.
Another highlight in early 2013 was Funkgenda’s remix Zedd’s Clarity, where he turned in a pounding version of the track that gave the original its very own electrogressive spin.
From the Zedd & Friends parties in Miami, to residencies at Space and shows at Pacha in Ibiza, to touring across India, Funkagenda’s has made his undisputable mark as a truly international DJ. This year saw him accomplish one of his dreams, playing a set at the legendary Burning Man alongside his friends, Nervo and Michael Woods.
Funkagenda’s sound attracts musical partnerships across a spectrum of genres, remixing artists such as Basement Jaxx, Moby, Fatboy Slim and Dirty Vegas. His production contributions to the Black Eyed Peas album ‘The E.N.D.’ were further recognized by an Album of the Year nomination and a Best Pop Vocal Album award at the 52nd Annual Grammys.
Funkagenda’s deeply personal DJ sets and production have built the boy from the Black Country a huge international fan base. Accumulating fierce support both on and off the dance floor, from industry to individuals, 2014 is set to be an even bigger year for Funkagenda – as a DJ, a producer and a fervent contributor to the world of music.
Sydney Blu Bio:
Sydney Blu continues to establish herself as one of the top female electronic producers and Dj’s in the world. Her passion for success, hit singles on the Beatport charts, extensive globally touring, and musical creativity has Sydney at the top of the electronic music scene.
Originally from Canada and currently based in Los Angeles, Sydney Blu's success has been built-upon numerous hit singles and relentless world touring. Following the success of her releases (including the chart-topping 'Give It Up For Me' on Mau5trap Recordings being one of Beatport’s highest selling songs and making Sydney the first female electronic producer to ever have a top 10 hit on the website), Sydney Blu developed and founded her own record label Blu Music, which has produced several chart-topping singles over the years. Steady support from global heavyweights such as Tiesto, Paul Van Dyk, Deadmau5, Robbie Rivera, & Funkagenda has propelled Sydney Blu and Blu Music to the forefront of the dance music scene, as well as the top of the charts.
After moving to Miami in Spring of 2010, Sydney Blu quickly set-up her residency with Opium Group and Mansion Miami, the hottest club in South Beach. Quickly thereafter, relentless worldwide touring followed with North American highlights including massive headlining shows at Pacha NYC, Space Miami, Avalon Los Angeles and Beta Denver just to name a few. Sydney also headlined in front of 10,000+ people this past summer in Recife Brazil, and then 25 thousand people this past November 2011 at the Rogers Centre Toronto, closing out the Deadmau5 Meowingtons Hax Tour. The event was the biggest dance event in Canadian history. On the global stage, Sydney Blu has rocked crowds with performances in Europe, Brazil, Colombia, Philippines, Mexico, Tunisia, Pakistan as well as a headlining slot in front of 5000 people in Egypt over the Easter holiday. She’s headlined some of the biggest clubs in the world including Space (Ibiza), Republiq (Manila), Space (Miami), El Pacha (Tunisia, Africa), Eazy Club (Sao Paulo, Brazil), BPM Festival (Playa Del Carmen, Mexico), Avalon (Los Angeles), The End (Colombia) and Guvernment Nightclub (Toronto) all having fans urning for more from the talented artist.
Sydney Blu and Blu Music consistently hit the Beatport charts over the past year, with releases like Chemistry on Blackhole Recordings as well as her most recent single Another Late Night featuring MC Flipside. Also her remixes of Luciana’s ‘Calling all the Lovers’, ‘Givin it Up’ by The Goodmen and a re-edit of Jefferson Airplane titled 'Want Somebody' topped the charts for weeks. As well, Blu’s label had one of it’s biggest hits this past year with Trent Cantrelle’s ‘I Wanna Freak’ topping the Beatport Top 10 and holding the #1 House song on the website for 3 months. The song was nominated as a finalist for #1 House song of 2011. All of Sydney's releases receive consistent support from global heavyweights such as Thomas Gold, NERVO, Tiesto, Roger Sanchez, Robbie Rivera, Paul Oakenfold, Chuckie, Ferry Corsten, Oscar G, Funkagenda Chris Lake & more.
2013 is already proving to be busy with original tracks and remixes set for release on Dim Mak Records, Spinnin Records, Funkfarm Records and a forthcoming album on Blackhole Recordings. Her full length live album on Nervous Records, 'Sydney Blu: Live at Mansion' raced up the itunes dance charts last year with a massive summer tour that took her all North & South America.
With an even more explosive touring schedule that is set to push her even further to success across 5 continents, 2013 is looking bright for the super fresh and accomplished SYDNEY BLU.
