Man Gets Naked in Security Search before Flight to San Jose

A high-tech worker from Silicon Valley stripped naked during a TSA security search last week before trying to board a flight from Portland International Airport to San Jose. The voluntary strip search served as a protest against airport security screeners in an act John E. Brennan, 49, deemed protected political speech.

City Looking to Sheriff’s Office to Police Mineta

According to officials, the new contract could save the city millions of dollars at a time when the city is facing a budget crunch and the airport’s modernization project has left it with a $1.3 billion debt.

Could Mineta Get a Name Change?

The proposed name change would have the airport’s new name as the Norman Y. Mineta San Jose/Silicon Valley International Airport. While Silicon Valley could be a draw, the name might also be more than a mouthful.

Terminal B Awarded LEED Silver

Mineta Airport’s new Terminal B has been awarded the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver certification for its innovative approaches to energy conservation and recycling. Throughout the building, energy efficiency surpassed energy usage standards by 16 percent. Recycled materials featured prominently in the construction of the Terminal too, diverting 920 tons of discarded construction materials from landfills.

San Jose Airport Employee Steals $500K From Passengers

Micheline Johnson, a 49-year-old woman who worked for American Airlines at the Mineta San Jose International Airport, was named in a 66-count felony complaint by the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office, which says she stole credit card information to pile up a half-million dollar tab in gift cards and purchases at Safeway.
