Description
After four records as part of Peninsula indie-pop outfit The Corner Laughers, singer-songwriter and ukulele player Karla Kane is striking out on her own. The former Metro music writer has an excellent new solo LP, titled King's Daughters Home for Incurables, due out later this fall. Bouncy, bright and often wistful, the record recalls the old, foggy world of England as well as the sunniest, westernmost reaches of California, and plays like a fantastical children's book for adults--a collection of clear-eyed allegories with magic glinting at the edges.
