Description@Jazz is a six-piece jazz band that will be performing a wide range of original contemporary jazz by Martin Manley and Lee Donnelly that ranges from straight-ahead, to fusion, funk, latin and acid jazz. The core group has been playing performing together in Northern California for over 10 years.
Martin Manley has played piano and keyboards since college and has performed with bands both here and in Europe. He contributed session keyboard work on a variety of independent label recordings while living in London. He has performed with @Jazz for the past 13 years, and has contributed many original compositions to the band's repertoire which are featured on the band's 2 CDs.
Lee Donnelly attended the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston and studied jazz guitar with the legendary Mick Goodrick and the Brazilian guitarist Celia Vaz. In addition to @Jazz, he's worked with a number of bay area bands including the Eddie Gale Quartet and Tony Perez. He has also played with such notable jazz players as Al DiMeola, Jeff Richman, Jerry Miller, Tim Volpicella, Curt Moore, Rick Vandevier and Russ Ferrante.
The group has released 2 CDs (About Time & Hang Time) both of which are available on iTunes and CD Baby and can be heard on various on-line radio channels. The band was also featured on a compilation CD produced by the Santa Cruz Jazz Society. They will begin working on their 3rd CD of original music this spring.
@Jazz has performed at numerous bay area music venues including: Kuumbwa Jazz Center, San Jose Jazz Festival, Pete Escovedo's Jazz Club and the Mountain Winery.
Martin Manley and Lee Donnelly will be joined by Richard Conway on trumpet & flugelhorn and Scott Barnhill on saxophone as well as Randy Whiting on bass and Michael Dunn on drums
Richard Conway actively performs with numerous jazz big bands and small groups in the San Jose and peninsula area. His musical career includes performances with several highly acclaimed musicians, including Gordon Goodwin, Brian Lynch, Conrad Herwig, Eric Marienthal, Geoffrey Keezer, Bobby Shew, Peter Erskine, Andy Martin, Wayne Bergeron, and Bob Sheppard.
Scott Barnhill is a towering talent on the tenor sax with four decades in the business, and is a key player in the Bay Area jazz scene. Throughout his career, he has had the honor of sharing the stage with the likes of: Terrance Blanchard, Charlie Haden, Joe Henderson, Mullgrew Miller, and Cedar Walton.
