Description

The art, history, and ambiance of Highclere Castle in Hampshire, the sumptuous Victorian country house used in the filming of "Downton Abbey," will be presented by Professor William Fredlund, Ph.D., Director of the Institute for the Study of Western Civilization. Dr. Fredlund has taught at Stanford, UCSC, and the University of Florence, and is widely recognized as one of Silicon Valley's most dynamic lecturers. This is the first of Dr. Fredlund's 2013-2014 season of lectures at the Sunnyvale theater -- in later months, Dr. Fredlund will present three other great castles of Great Britain (Dover Castle, Windsor Castle, and the Tower of London).
