Hillbarn Theatre, the Peninsula's premier community theatre company, kicks off its 2014-15 season opener with one of Broadway’s musical theatre cornerstones, Funny Girl. From the streets of New York’s Lower East Side to the bright lights of Broadway, Funny Girl is the enduring and passionate rags-to-riches story of Fanny Brice – one of the most celebrated Vaudeville entertainers. Nominated for eight Tony Awards, Funny Girl takes theatergoers back to the Golden Age of Ziegfeld and the height of burlesque. With music by Jule Styne, lyrics by Bob Merrill and book by Isobel Lennart, Funny Girl features some of Broadway’s most memorable tunes including “Don’t Rain on My Parade,” “People,” “I’m the Greatest Star” and “You Are Woman, I Am Man.”
