Description

AUGUST ICA LIVE! WILL FEATURE FRAU FIBER IN COLLABORATION WITH THE SAN JOSE MUSEUM OF QUILTS & TEXTILES.

When leaders need to hear from the people, Frau Fiber wants to know if you want to Mend America?

Join together with friends, family, and co-workers at First Friday Art Walk, take up your needle, thread and a pen and write a Mend America Official Communication. Frau Fiber asks you to commit your leisure time to stitch a patch, and write a directive, rant, or thank you to the official of your choice.

Once the stitching and contemplating is complete the patch is pinned onto the front of the card. The directive, rant, and or thank you is written in the card. The envelope is addressed, and mailed.

Carole Frances Lung is an artist, soft power guerilla activist, and Associate Professor of Fashion Fiber and Materials, at California State University Los Angeles. Through her alter ego Frau Fiber, Carole activates a vocabulary of fashion and textile production and consumption, crafting of one of a kind garments, installations, performances, and social sculpture, paying homage to labor, textile and apparel manufacturing histories and contemporary production systems.
