Description

David Grisman has created a one-of-a-kind niche with his self-described Dawg Music, an amalgam of bluegrass and jazz comprised as its prime ingredients. The iconic mandolinist's eclectic approach has led to a number of inventive collaborations over the years that have included Bonnie Raitt, Stephane Grappelli, and his old friend Jerry Garcia – who gave him the nickname “Dawg.” From his roots as an acolyte of mandolinist/folklorist Ralph Rinzler, and his early days with the Even Dozen Jug Band, Grisman's musical curiosity led him into jazz and the development of his own unique idiom. Muddy Roads is his latest CD on the Acoustic Disc label.
