Description
The chiptune genre seems like something too niche for a lot of people to even consider getting into: a bunch of dudes making music with their old Nintendo Gameboys? But the genre has evolved so far past that. San Francisco quartet Crashfaster are one of the bands taking it into wholly new territory. Their latest album, Further, incorporates industrial music, alt-rock and electro-dance, and they make some quite serious, emotional songs in the process. Singer Morgan Tucker has become the de facto leader of the West Coast scene, and holds monthly chip events at the DNA Lounge. In addition to Further, Crashfaster just released an incredible video for their song "Beacon." It's a memorizing, surreal sci-fi short film that masquerades as a music video.
