The Los Altos History Museum announces their plans to showcase contemporary works by local artists from November 2, 2013 to March 23, 2014, in an exhibition entitled Los Altos – Moving Art Forward (LAMAF). These artworks will be selected to complement the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art’s off-site exhibit, The Los Altos Project: SFMOMA in Silicon Valley. The MOMA artworks will be shown in locations throughout downtown Los Altos, sponsored by Passerelle Investment Company and the City of Los Altos. In support of this event, the Los Altos History Museum has announced a “Call for Art” to solicit contemporary works from artists residing in the incorporated and unincorporated Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, as well as Mountain View. A committee of jurors will select the final art to be exhibited. “We will be looking for that ‘Wow!’ factor” says Laurel Iverson, a member of the City of Los Altos Arts Commission and the Museum’s exhibit committee. Deadline for submissions is September 23, 2013. To celebrate the exhibition’s opening, and to honor the selected artists, a public reception will be held on the afternoon of Saturday, November 2, from 4:00-6:30 pm at the Museum, 51 S. San Antonio Road, Los Altos. Recognition ribbons will be awarded.
