Description
"I imagine your dead body lying in my bed," Courtney Swain sings quietly over soft synthesized bells. A few more lines then: "Death is one more option to explore" and it all bursts into a prog rock breakdown that shows off Swain's pipes. This is on "Being Human," a track off Bent Knee's second LP, Shiny Eyed Babies. The band lists themselves as "avant-indie" which gets at their blend of prog tendencies tempered by indie pop. It isn't overindulgent and it isn't too precious. It's muscular and weird-and good for all that. A Yawn Worth Yelling, Six Steps North and The Y Axes also play. (Stephen Layton)
