Description
The Strokes and the White Stripes were a sudden-and for most people-welcome revitalization of garage-rock a decade ago. Portland indie-rock trio Autonomics hark back to this era of garage rock revitalization with their rough-around-the-edges, no-frills blues-driven rock riffs, though they have a bit more R&B influence than anything Jack White has ever produced. Their lead singer Dan Patenburg has the intensity of a '60s soul singer, but with a rawer edge. With the prevalence of computers and drum machines in indie-bands these days, Autonomics come off as particularly raw and borderline punk rock in their urgency, but they are pop-craftsmen at their core.
