What sets Ayoma Lifespa apart from other spas is its use of Ayurveda, "a 5,000-year-old life healing system from India that maximizes health through herbal personal care, diet, massage and other natural treatments, exercise, art, and environment," according to the spa's website. Lifestyle consultations (120 minutes, $240 for the initial consultation, 60 minutes, $165 for each subsequent visit) are offered along with traditional treatments such as massages and facials. The Chakra Dhara (60 minutes, $150) features two therapists massaging four central "chakras," or energy centers, followed by an herbal oil massage with alternating rhythmic movements.

A day literally has to be set aside to fully experience the Beauty Clinica Day Spa, with spa packages ranging from 2.5 hours (Express Relaxation package, $170) to 7.5 hours (Luxury Full Day package, $419). One of the unique body treatments available at the spa is the Aroma-Detox Body Envelopment (75 minutes, $115), a full-body algae mask which the spa says "refines your body by draining away toxins as well as fatty deposits and water retention." Other services include nail therapy, such as the Gentleman's Manicure ($35) and Aromatherapy Manicure ($35), and a full-service salon ($30 and up).

A self-proclaimed "therapeutic body haven for men and women," Body Kneads provides massages, spa and body treatments, hair care, skin care and tanning all in one location. The main spa treatment provided at Body Kneads is the Smoothing Marina Body Mask (60 minutes, $110), which begins with a smoothing body scrub for exfoliating dead skin cells and a seaweed and essential oils paste. The body is then wrapped in a blue seaweed rich with nutrients and antioxidents to revitalize dry skin, leaving it soft and glowing. The treatment ends with a relaxing scalp massage.

Though there are multiple Burke Williams Spas throughout California, this spa works to give each person a unique and individual experience. One such experience is the Hunters Retreat (40 minutes, $95), beginning with an exfoliating granular scrub, followed by a thorough cleansing with wheat stalks soaked in essential oils while warm water surrounds the body and ending with a massage of light moisturizing oil to release tensions and soften skin. The Emilee's Intrigue treatment (75 minutes, $110) couples massage with hot rock therapy, then the body is covered in immune-system-boosting eucalyptus leaves and steaming towels, and finally, the scalp and face are gently worked and the body is massaged.

"A world of personal decadence," the Dolce Vita Day Spa offers waxings, water treatments, makeup artistry and manicures and pedicures. Also available are spa packages, such as the Amoré (180 minutes, $385), a couples spa retreat with a candlelit private aroma tub, one-hour massage and customized deep-cleansing facial and lunch. Another package is the Dolce Due (315 minutes, $350), "a full day of pampering," with an aromatic bath of salts, milk and essential oils, botanical Oxy-Vital Facial to soften and Revitalizing Eyes destressing eye treatment, 90-minute Swedish massage, pause for a light lunch and beverage, and ending with a manicure and pedicure to revitalize hands and feet.

El Paseo Day Spa features Dinur, Yon-ka and M.D. Formulations products for its spa and salon services. The spa offers classic body treatments, such as the Body Contour Cellulite Reduction service (60 minutes, $75), an exfoliation and cellulite massage with GX-99 to increase the flow of blood and lymph fluid, and the Salt Glow Scrub (60 minutes, $75), a mild organic scrub to oxygenate the skin, clear away dead skin cells and moisturize rough spots. Salon amenities include lash and brow tinting, waxing, nail services and hair styling.

Go European at Harmonie European Day Spa with treatments like the Papaya Enzyme Facial ($125), a mask that "digests" dead cells from the top layer of the skin to open the way for intense exfoliation, plus a deep-cleansing facial to dislodge comedons and improve skin's smoothness. A haven for feet and hands, the Island Pedicure focuses on the oft-ignored parts of the body to relieve tension and add ornamentation and calm. The salon features bridal packages, including The Island 'Honey'moon ($95), "an exclusive treatment using the nourishing power of honey to pamper our brides." Hands and feet are soaked in Lokelani Sea Petal Bridal Bath, made with essential oils, milk and flower petals, then gently exfoliated with Ali'i Honey and Nut Poultice. Hands and feet are then coated with pure honey and wrapped in steaming towels for deep penetration and hydration, followed by a leg massage with Pedicure Poi with cocoa butter, plus an application of French polish and a complimentary toe ring. Juut Salon Spa is one of the many spas and salons to offer Aveda products. The session begins with a Frango mineral bath, followed by an hour-long aromatherapy Swedish massage, deep-pore-cleansing facial and paraffin pedicure, plus a body care gift package including a mineral bath essence and herbal bath oil (both with your choice of scent.) The south San Jose spa du jour is a prime relaxation spot with spacious rooms and also offers treatment packages with full body massages, facials, mineral foot therapy and sauna relaxation.
