Small Town Murder Songs
(Canada; 75 min.) A woman is murdered in a Mennonite community. The police chief (a bottled-up Peter Stormare) believes that the perp is the rotten boyfriend of his ex-girlfriend (Jill Hennessy of Crossing Jordan ). The film has the look and accents of Fargo , but none of the sly humor. The pounding musical interludes by Bruce Peninsula are jarring and distracting. (MSG)
