The food festival and event season is upon us. Here are three choice happenings in the weeks to come. One of the biggest events of the summer is Sunset Magazine’s Celebration Weekend. If you’ve never been to one of these, they are definitely worth checking out, if only to see how those picture-perfect gardens, homes and food look in real life. The answer: pretty great.

The event is June 2-3 at the magazine’s 7-acre campus in Menlo Park. The food lineup is particularly good. There will be nine chefs, food trucks galore, Sunset food editors and lots to eat. This year’s event will include Food Network host, chef, author and restaurateur Guy Fieri (who will be making grilled Dr. Pepper pork) as well as local talent including Chris Cosentino, Yigit Pura, David Bazirgan and Novella Carpenter, Tom Douglas and Joy Baker of JoyTheBaker.com.

There will also be a backyard-farm demonstration area, complete with chicken coops from Heidi Kooy of Itty Bitty Farm and Esperanza Pallana of Pluck and Feather, as well as two large observation bee hives provided by All Honey Apiary. There will also be exhibits about growing mushrooms and making preserves.

No food festival these days is complete without lots of food trucks, and Sunset’s event will feature Seoul on Wheels (Korean-Mexican food), Hapa SF (Filipino food), Babaloo (Cuban), Pollo Fritto (chicken sandwiches), Curry Up Now (Indian), and fruit drinks from Fruit N Exotica.

The wineries of the Santa Cruz Mountains will come to Silicon Valley June 2-3 for the Santa Cruz Mountain Winegrowers Association‘s 23rd Annual Vintners’ Festival, “A Taste of the Mountains.” (The event continues June 9-10 on the Santa Cruz side of the mountains.)

The festival will be hosted at wineries and restaurants in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties. Wineries will be pouring from 11am to 5pm with restaurant locations closing at 4pm. The Vintners’ Festival offers participants a self-guided tour in which they may take part in barrel tasting, meet winemakers and enjoy music, art and food. Visitors are invited to wander through many of the winery gardens and bring picnics. Wineries include Big Basin Vineyards, Cooper-Garrod Estate Vineyards and Kings Mountain Vineyards.

The cost is $40 in advance and $45 at the door. For Information or tickets, call 831.685.VINE (8463) or go to http://www.SCMWA.com

Each Tuesday, 7-9pm, in July and August, Santana Row will host the annual Flavors of Jazz series. Santana Row restaurants will host free live performances of local jazz musicians on their outdoor patios. The roster includes a wide range of styles, from traditional and contemporary jazz to funk and Brazilian styles. The series kicks off July 3 with the Kristen Strom Trio at Thea Mediterranean Cuisine and The Sandra Aran Duo at Left Bank Brasserie.
