Power went out for almost two hours in downtown Friday morning, from the Fairmont Hotel on First Street over to the corner of San Fernando Avenue.

According to a PG&E worker who was working on site to fix the problem, a miscalculation on the company’s part when installing a new circuit resulted in an overload of power. The result was power outages at several different restaurants on the one of the busiest corridors in town at lunch time.

With Friday being one of the most beautiful days of the year so far, and downtown workers out in mass to get a bite to eat, PG&E’s ability to get everything back up and running averted what could have been big losses for local establishments.
