There’s some good news for the unemployed throughout the Bay Area. Many local companies are planning to start hiring again. The trend hasn’t begun yet, and there is no indication as to how many people will be hired, but a report by the Bay Area Council, shows that 41 percent of Bay Area companies with a staff of over 500 plan to hire new employees by September. Among smaller companies with a staff of 50 or more, 42 percent plan to hire new employees by then.

The report was based on a survey of 485 chief executives throughout the nine counties of the Bay Area. They expressed slightly more confidence in the economy, with an average score of 61 out of a hundred, as opposed to 58 out of 100 in the last report. The two areas expected to hire the most new employees are San Francisco and Silicon Valley.
