One of the newest food trends is the DIY cheese movement. At Sur la Table in Los Gatos, cookbook author Peter Hertzmann will demonstrate how to make mozzarella, ricotta, crème fraiche … and homemade butter.

Sheryl Crow at Mountain Winery
She started her career as Michael Jackson’s hottest backup singer, and she’s gone on to win Nine Grammys and 35 million albums since the release of her first, aptly titled “Tuesday Night Music Club.”

Wednesday:
Pushcart Prize Winner Reads
Eric Puchner’s darkly funny first novel, “Model Home,” about a family destroyed and then redeemed by a bad real estate deal, won him a Pulitzer Prize. He reads tonight at the Martin Luther King Library.

Thursday:
Rodney Branigan and Jenn Grinels
Branigan’s ambidextrous live performances are a sight to behold. That’s right: He plays two guitars at once. Grinels only needs one; she writes good songs and sings them well. At the Theater On San Pedro Square.

Friday:
Tegan and Sara
The twin Canadian darlings of indie pop have the quirky female vocal market on lock. They open for Paramore at the HP Pavilion this Friday; for a more intimate setting, catch them earlier in the day at Streetlight Records at 2pm.
